Justice department to investigate tapping leak

Officials told Associated Press that the inquiry would concentrate on disclosures to the New York Times about the surveillance of US citizens without warrants conducted by the National Security Agency since the September 11 attacks.

Mr Bush's critics say he acted illegally, but he argues that the constitution gave him authority because the country is at war. The investigation was initiated after a request from the NSA.
